Buffalo, New York is Dreamtown USA!
WEATHER
07-Aug-26: NY Times calls Buffalo "Oasis"
"FOCUS: BUFFALO OASIS. The weather has been inhospitable
in parts of the nation this summer. In July, the interior West sizzled under
a spell of extreme heat, with Montana, Idaho and Wyoming recording their hottest
Julys on record. This month, the stifling heat has shifted to the South and
Ohio Valley. Memphis, Birmingham and Cincinnati have had more days with temperatures
of 100 degrees and higher than any other August.
Torrential rain has poured on the Midwest and southern Plains this summer.
Corpus Christi, Tex., had its wettest July, while Madison, Wis., has had its
wettest August and month. In contrast, it has been a blissful summer
on the shores of Lake Erie in Buffalo. May and June brought record amounts
of sunshine to the city, while the average high since May has been a pleasant
77 degrees. Rainfall in Buffalo since May has totaled seven inches, compared
to 17 inches in Chicago and 23 inches in New York City. "
Of course, this is nothing new to Buffalonians. After
all, "Buffalo has the sunniest and driest summers of any major city in the
Northeast." (Read this and more at http://www.erh.noaa.gov/buf/bufclifo.htm .)
And we don't get nearly as much snow as the media portrays and not nearly
as much as we used to, unfortunately...when was our last white Christmas? (More
on Buffalo and snow at http://www.buffaloresearch.com/snow.html .)
And don't even get me started on the spectacular autumns!
